Zebra Cake

ok,so for my brothers birthday, i was actually in town.  and we needed a cake, and i was lucky enough to get to make his cake.  i was DYING to try THIS.  so stinking excited.
so i did.
and it was
AWESOME!!!!!
the only think i did different was i used a box, and after i had it all mixed, i took out half the white, added the coco powder to the rest, mixed and then i used a 1/4th of a cup instead of 3T, i only have so much time in between feeding and a toddler.  but i think that i want my stripes darker, so food coloring/ more coco- not sure which will do the trick.  it might have to be both.  we'll see.
i think it was a hit.  i loved it at least.  oh we then frosted it with cream cheese frosting, and these oreo sprinkle things.  YUM.

Gap Boxes

so i have decided that i like to mod podge. and i like to oraganize and clean- that part isn't a suprise to those who know me. anyway, i was tired of all the wii stuff everywhere. so i grabbed those "awesome-Gap-boxes-that-are-to-nice-to-throw-away-but-cant-be-given-unless-there-is-something-from-Gap-inside", and i went to town.

the kids picked the paper, and i started cutting, and glueing!

i decided that i LOVE them!  i just need to get 2 more Gap boxes...

it looks a bit empty up top.  i think that the Hubbers was slightly inpressed that i did that one night, in like 30 minutes!

anyway- there you go, boxes cluttering things, now taking care of clutter.
WAHOO!!!

4th of July Placemats

so i love the 4th of July.  i love its meaning and all that comes with it.
but i have to say- i have no decorations for it.
none.
zero.
zip.
nada.
its kinda sad. so i, in my broken foot-ed-ness decided to rememdy this fact.
the supplies:
jeans,
white felt
Red Polk-a-dot fabric (red felt is shown, but i decided it needed something else)
tule
needle and thread
and a "pattern" (mine were cookie cutters)
and then its super easy.  cut the stars out, and then the hardest part- the tule.  cut strips that are about 2 inches wide, then do a loose stitch to gather, make a circle.  a big one and then a little one. and then layer!  attach to a 'broach pin' and then pin to the placemat!
all in all super easy.
i plan on doing seasonal decals.
but here is the finished product!  i LOVE them.  i am just trying to figure out what to do with the other holidays now!  ideas are welcome there!
i will be putting a close up up.  that way the super cuteness will be seen better.

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!

L.O.V.E. blocks

so these are rather self explanitory.  but i still LOVE them.

mod podge
cute paper
wood letters (from hobby lobby)
wood block
white paint

paint blocks, adhere paper, and attach letters with mod podge.
lots of steps and all easy. the hardest part is waiting for everything to dry!

i even think that i will be doing our last name, and maybe a 'FAMILY' one but i dunno.  i just LOVE the seasonal ideas that i found HERE with the possiblities of THIS PLACE.  WOW-ZA!!!!

Feather Wreath

so i think that St. Patricks day is almost like a forgotten holiday.  we all love it on the DAY, but there is seldom planning that goes into it...... i am planning on changing that with this wreath.  i am so in love with this wreath.  not only was it cheap, but it was sooo easy!
glue gun
foam wreath
feather boas (mine took 5)
ribbon (to hang it)
and that is it!!!  so easy!!! glue an end on it, and wrap.  glue and wrap until your wreath is covered.  add the ribbon to hang and VIOLA!  its awesome.

(ok i know this picture is AWFUL but this was done when i was nearing near death in the pregnancy, and the idea of waddleing to the door, going outside where it was cold, and then takinga picture, and then waddleing BACK to my
bless-ed was far more then i could handle.)

but this wreath i have gotten MORE compliments on then anything.  and i think this is one of my favorites ever.  and the green is a good green.  it just makes me smile!  i am just so happy that SHE was so brilliant to think of it!  yay for creative people!  =)

Valentines Wreaths

so while i was on near bedrest with thing 4 i needed something to do.  to give me a sense of accomplishment.  so while i was blog hopping i came across THIS SITE, and i decided to do it. and i have to say, it was EASY, it took a bit of time yes- but it wasnt too bad when i had to spend so much time in bed! i did find that the glue did NOT work for me. so i used the pins.....

i LOVE how they turned out!  i loved them so much i made smaller ones that will be put on a base standing at different heights next year, i was FAR to burnt out to want to look at them more.  lol probably about 20 hours pinning little fabric squares into foam wreath frames.

this is what it took, a roller cutter, fabric, and straight pins. for the little hearts i had to use sequins pins because they are thinner then the giant red hearts.
the pink one is representing thing 1, and the other one hanging is thing 2's, the 1/2 finished one is thing 3, while the dot squares is for thing 4.

i also had made 2 two tiered topiaries, they arent finished either, i got tired of looking at it. =) so to make the 4 little hearts, and the two 2 tiered topiaries, and 2 big hearts. it cost me $40- that was because i bought SO MUCH fabric! if i would have bought the correct amount of fabric (the little hearts took like 1/4 of a yard and i bought 2 i believe) it would have only cost me like $20-$25. not bad at all!

there you have it!  pop in movie- watch edward stalk bella and pin those squares into that foam!

Summer Fun

So this summer besides having craft days on monday with my friends, i think that on tuesday i will have activity days with my kids. i want to do something fun with them instead of just enduring the summer. i want to enjoy it.
so-so far i have a few ideas of things to do-
in particular order....
wacky sacs (blog home to come later) they are play dough filled balloons
home made chalk
slime
soap balls (again- blogs home to come later)
edible playdough (thanks Kenzie for the idea!)
"spoon chimes"
but thats all i got. i need like 9 more activities. super fast, easy, fun, and cheap ones.
if you have any ideas let me know.

thanks!

Clothes Pinned Pictures

so i am proud to say that this- is an origanl idea. that doesnt seem to happen too often here. i am just waiting for my photographer to get here to take our family picture.....

Supplies Needed:
Clothes Pins
Paint
Mod Podge
Craft Paper
Paint Brush

first ya get the giagantic clothes pins- i got mine at hobby lobby i think i spent $20 total.
take them apart and prime and paint them.
then you cut and measure your paper to match what you want where, and attach it with the mod podge.
super easy.
it really only took 15minutes to do the whole thing after the paint dried and
TA-DA!

we are putting a picture of the kiddos, the family, and me and LoveBug. i also have rub-ons that say 'FAMILY' that will go on the center one. all in all i think that for around $20 they turned out rather cute!
