So my daughter happens to be one of the sweetest most thoughtful little dolls on the planet.  Her room did NOT reflect that, and it made me very sad.  So I started to plan.  Then I got really very excited.  So I started to paint.  It's a nice blush rose pink.  Rather light and not too over-powering, but definitely satisfies the girl in her.
The next step was to stencil.  For some reason I was absolutely terrified of the stencil.  Ridiculous, yes.  I got over my fear- jumped in and started to paint.  And I LOVE LOVE it!
It's in a darker purple, with a great lighter apple green.

Well, her doors were awful.  The people before us..... well, I don't understand, but that is what paint is for, right?
Before.
After.  (with the added stencil)

When she saw it she squealed.  It made my hear happy.
Enjoy your virtual tour!

So now she has a room that is more of a reflection of who she is.
And I also love that she can grow with it.
We also did it for around $200.
4 gallons of paint (2 light pink, one purple, and one green)
Sealer for the wood.  We wanted to keep it natural looking.
Then the bedding.  Which I think makes all the difference in the world.
She loves it and that makes it worth all of it!

Peep Pops

So for my daughter's class Easter party I went out on a limb and made everyone Peep Pops.  I had seen this floating around blog land and loved it.  The kids thought it was the most awesome thing ever.  Talk about a sugar rush!  They were mighty tasty and pretty fun and relatively easy to make!

(sorry for the bad lighting.  It was late)

Anyway, I totally recommend doing this.  Lotsa fun, and the "Wow Factor" is definitely there!
Enjoy!

anyway- LOVE it!
duct tape and a box.  who would have thought?!?!

Shorts made Cute!!!

so i had found THIS POST and i was super excited to make these.  the only thing is, is i would have to BUY miss jellybean bigger pants just to cut- and well i have troubles buying new pants just to cut up..... so i realized, i have NIECES!!!  wahoo!  so i made them for her!

here is a closer view......

i haven't heard any reviews yet, but when i get pictures of her in them, i will post them!

Sonic Cake!!!

so for my oldest sons birthday, he loves sonic.
and strawberries.
so i decided to make a cake using fondant again.  i was really nervous about using fondandt againconsidering the last time the stuff tasted awful!!!  i mean super disgusting.  so i talked to my dearest friend Mandy and she gave me a recipe for some marshmellow fondant.  i was scared to make that too just cuz i'm kinda a pansy when it comes to trying new things by myself.
anyway, i made the 2 rounds and cut them each in half, iced, strawberried, and iced and then 'dirty iced' the whole cake and refridgerated it, then i iced it a again.

i then made all my sonic pieces....

and then i put it all together!!!!  and i have to say, i thought it was soooooooooo awesome!!!!
i am really pleased with myself, and how it turned out.  it gave me hope and excitment for the future projects!

and here i am with the awesome soncic cake hiding in the pantry so the birthday boy couldnt see it.
he LOVED it and so it made all the stressing and worrying so worth it!

anyway- yay for more cakes!!!!

felt flower on a sweater pillow

so i made this pillow out an old sweater..... i hadn't worn since high school.  why i
still have it is beyond me, but there ya go.  it was super soft and i already had the pillow form, so it was super easy.  then i decided to make a bunch of flowers from felt.  i placed them and they were awesome.  the 6 year old owner is ECCSTATIC!!!  super cute.
it is as soft as it looks.

broken up in the molds,

Tooth Fairy Pillow

so we have this happening here now, how is this happening already? so then in all my blog hopping i found a few of these.  this is the one that i can find right now,  there was another one that i had, that i used a bit more, but i cant find it for the life of me find it.  very sad, but i will keep looking, and when i find it, i will put it here.

but it was really rather easy.  and that must be easy, especially for me to say that, cuz i get kinda scared of the sewing machine.  i know i shouldn't be scared of it, but i kinda am.
anyway.  she LOVES it and that is what matters!

Job Chart Folow Up

so i made the clip boards.  and i have to say.....

epic fail.

kinda sad because i was so excited about it- but it just didn't work.  first the magnetic paint- that was no good.  even after like 6 coats- no magnets would stick to it.  so we had to get metal sheeting.  the magnets worked great, but now the clip boards were heavy. and the little papers kept falling off- so that was just kinda sad for me.
but now the kids have clip boards they love to use to hold their maps.  the world is good i guess!  lol

so what i ended up using was the good old formula cans covered! they have worked wonders in our house! i love it!!  then they have the tounge depressers that have what they need to do, when they are done we take them out of the jar and pu the marbles into the jar. they know to go to their cans, they know what to do for how many marbles- they know what cost marbles- namely watch tv, play computer/wii/play station. so its great! i love how excited my kids are to clean the bathroom! lol

it has been awesome.  now to keep coming up with chores!!

Micky Mouse Cupcakes

so when monkey turned 2, i knew with his mickey mouse obsession, i had to do something mickey related.  the only thing i could come up with was these.
pulverized oreos with cream cheese made into balls.  then covered in dark chocolate.  they were rich, and very delicious.  must eat with milk though!  hubs LOVES them!  lol
they werent as smooth as i would have prefered, but i was ok with that.  i also would have prefered to make the icing more colorful.  like a good red or yellow cuz that seems to scream mickey colors to me, but alas- the time did not allow for such things.  so the icing stayed white.  but it still looked ok and tasted good too!

i was rather pleased with the reaction too!!

My Red Candle Sticks

so i got these babies at a garage sale. i loved the shape of them. just not the color. so i pondered at Lowe's with my sister bored on the phone and decided to go with the best color for me. Burgundy. when in doubt go with a red. and i LOVE them!!!!

how beautiful are they?  they migrate around in the house, i haven't really where i really want them, so until then.....  but yeah, aren't they AWESOME!!!  i LOVE spray paint!

Star Cupcakes

we are a total cupcake family here.
for birthdays i have found it MUCH easier to make and decorate cupcakes rather than whole cakes. and they are portioned just wonderfully for little kids! win-win if ya ask me!
so for my sweet little angels 6th birthday i made these cupcakes. they were a HUGE hit!

i LOVE the look of them!
these are the ones that i took to school for here.  i think i was the favorite parent for the day.  talk about an ego boost!  lol, all i did was make candy, put it in the molds, and then ice and top!

it was awesome!
definite repeat i think.... now to find different shapes!

Christmas Rug

for my moms Christmas present, my sister and i decided that while we were visiting for the extended weekend, that we would 'quickly' make my mom a cute rug i saw HERE. well-  we got the paint

cleaned the feet,

painted the foot,

and walah!  there are upside down ones- they are doing handstands....
but i have to say that we had to put like 4 coats on it, so that was kinda sad, but it worked out ok.

but i thought it was really rather cute.  i also made one of them for my MIL but it was just the trees.  i thought they were cute!!!

Paper Folders

so the kids have tons of papers from school and church. and somehow, they totally remember each thing that they draw on! how do they do that? anyway- i went on the search for a way to store them without having to dedicate a whole room to their 'art'.
i found THIS PAGE here.  and i was so excited to get rid of this!!!!

well- lets just say that it didnt work quite like i was hoping.  but that was only because i was keeping every stinkin sheet of paper all of my sweet childs hard work.  but its purpose was not to keep everything but just the important ones.  so i need to rebind them and get new folders.

see too full.

i even tried to alter them, but...... yeah it was a good thought, it just didnt work that well.....

so i just learned that i need to not keep all the letter practice sheets and all that jazz, and that i need to pare it down.  so i will just have to get some new folders to redo it.  otherwise it works great.  my sons folder is awesome.

30 minute Pumpkin Cake

for my daughters kindergarten class, i am the roommother.  and well, the teacher informed me the morning of a cake contest that i needed to have a cake decorated.  she brought a bundt cake and was going to glaze it and call it good, until she realized that i could/should decorate it!  totally freaked me out.  so after a few frantic calls to my mom, and one of my best friends i came up with this.
i filled the center of the bundt with chocolate chips. i made a 'play dough' type 'fondont' of pwdered sugar and watrer, and made some leaves.  with a fat tootsie roll as the stem.  not bad for only 30 minutes if you ask me!

oh and i used a fun size pack of oreos to crush and use as the dirt.
i was quite pleased with how it came out on such a short notice.  her teacher was shocked to see what i did!  me too for that matter!

updates

haha.
ha.
 ha.....
(*clears throat*)

so i have like 7 drafts just waiting for the pictures to go with them.......

sorry.

i am far too tired tonight to do it though!

soon though, very soon!!!
thanks for waiting!
